The benefits of using our fractionating columns

Invented in 1904 by the French glassblower, Henri Vigreux, Vigreux fractionating columns use a combination of horizontal and angled indentations to significantly increase the surface area of the column to increase its efficiency. Quickfit®® Vigreux columns are available in three different effective lengths and conical joint sizes. The Dufton column comprises of a glass column with an accurately fitted glass spiral. This ensures that liquid spiralling down the column maintains a close contact with the ascending vapour. The glass spiral in Quickfit® Dufton columns can be removed for cleaning. Glass packing supports and Raschig rings are available as separate accessories for use with the Quickfit® plain fractionating column.
