Our history
SciLabware Limited is a relatively new name but our company has a long and distinguished history.
Our story began with the Triplex Safety Glass Company in Kings Norton, Birmingham, in 1934 when an assistant chemist and glassblower made some samples of laboratory glassware fitted with ground-glass conical joints, a development which attracted the interest of the Royal Society. Large scale manufacturing of the new product was soon underway.
Following a number of changes in ownership in the 1980's the company became Barloworld Scientific, home of some of the world’s most famous brand names in laboratory equipment and consumables.
In November 2007 Barloworld Scientific was acquired by Nova Capital and since 1 April 2008 the glassware and reusable plastic labware side of the business has been trading as SciLabware Limited.
In 2011 the business became part of the
DURAN Group who are one of the world's leading manufacturers of borosilicate glass.
Today SciLabware is the leading European full range supplier of quality reusable laboratory ware, under the Pyrex* brand for glassware and the Azlon brand for plasticware. The company is based in Staffordshire, UK and sells its products worldwide through a network of distributors.
Our company name has changed a few times over the years, but one thing has remained constant. As a market leader in high quality laboratory consumables, we have an
unrivalled reputation for product quality and customer service, setting standards
for others to follow.
